Jule Amps Tiny Terror Modification

With the Jule Mod, the Tiny Terror from Orange Amps firmly holds its place with greatly more expensive, classic guitar amplifiers.

Even without the Jule Mod the Tiny Terror is an outstanding amp in its price range. The Jule Mod will make it a favored amp in the studio for the guitarist and the engineer. For live performance the Tiny Terror will always be a great amp in the right venue.

Technically, the Jule Mod consists of the addition of several components, as well as several "longevity" improvements that overcome mass manufacturing issues.

Musically, the Jule Mod makes the Tiny Terror sound larger and more defined. Notes that were lost in the studio become clearer. The touch of the Tiny Terror after the Jule Mod is also greatly enhanced. Great Guitarists, looking for an amp to show what they have to say, love it. It becomes an amp that is difficult to stop playing.

None of the outstanding overdrive characteristics of the Tiny Terror are diminished in any way. That would be a tragedy. Instead, those overdrive tones become easier for the guitarist to use, and more flexible for the engineer to record.

In the words of a great producer, after playing the Jule Modified Tiny Terror for several days, "It makes a $600 dollar amp sound like a $1200 dollar amp."

Terror Track Click the vu meter if you wish to hear the "in the mix" sample of the Jule Modified Tiny Terror again.

All guitars are a 1999 USA Strat Delux with Bareknuckle pickups.

First half the the solo is the 2nd swtich position (middle and bridge) with the bridge humbucker coil taped. Second half of the solo is the bridge pickup in humbucker mode. Reverb on the solo guitar is a TC 6000 "Blackface" spring algorithm. Delay is a simply delay line set to tempo and mixed accordingly. The solo is also being "kissed" by a UA LA3-A pulling down around 3-4 db at worst.

All rythm guitars are either middle or middle and neck position settings. There are 4 seperate rythm parts panned to taste and sent through a delay line and very slight compression.

Rythm parts are all Tiny Terror with controls at dead center going into a solid ash 2x12 closed back cab' loaded with 25 watt greenbacks.

Solo parts are with Terror Terror at around 8 on the master volume, around 7 of the tone and probably around 7 on the gain. There is a little bit of tube screamer on the solo parts on the way in. Cab used for the solo is an all original 1972 Marshall 4x12 with original 25 watt greens. This cab' has a custom "semi-open" back which allows for tuning of the Marshall 4x12 "woof" characteristic.

Mics used are Audix i5 and Royer 121 mixed to taste.

Preamps used are Apogee Trak2 and A-Designs Pacifica.

Bass is a '97 5-string Jazz with passive Bartolini's di'd with an A-Designs Reddi.
