Sound Samples from Players

We don't really think you're going to choose an amplifier based on how it sounds through your computer speakers, but we hope it will give you some idea of what can be done with our amps.

Ronan Chris Murphy of Venetowest StudiosRonan Chris Murphy of Veneto West Studios of Los Angeles California and Venice Italy has kindly made a sample mp3 using only his Brenda K. head and his PRS guitar. This sample uses no editing and no effects. What you hear is a great musican, creating a wide range of quite different tones without ever touching a knob. Click here to listen.

EL Radio Fantastique is an outstanding band from waterlogged New Orleans with a very powerful, very eclectic idea of what it is music is supposed to be. That is a theramin Johnny DiMorente is playing. You can hear their new song "Riverbed" here.

Peter Hollywood's L.A. band Ding Mao is working up their next CD right now. We are extremely pleased to be a part of their art. We are even happier that they have given us several samples from their current work. They are using both the 100 watt Praxis, and the 30 watt Brenda K.

Thank you Peter and Kevin. . . And folks out there - buy the CD when it hits the stores.

My good friend Kelley Meyer of Montarado Guitars was kind enough to record some samples for us. He got no rehearsal time, no music, no lead, no backup, and no money. But he did it anyway. Randy Ruedsamen of Skyway Studios also donated the studio time and his expertise at his beautiful studio in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There are a lot of great people in this business. Thank you Randy and Kelley.

Kelley used one of his gorgeous hollow body, myrtlewood guitars. Here's a front view.

Technical info for Kelley's session: Recorded the Praxis through a 4x12 vintage Ampeg cabinet with 25W Celestions. We close mic'd with a Shure SM57 on one side, and an Audio Technica 4033 large diaphragm condenser about 16" in front of, and about 30 degrees off of center on the other side of the stereo spectrum. Some of the room can be heard on the AT mic.

The Brenda K. samples were done with a similar Audio Technica 4033 configuration in mono.

Enjoy.
